Hello everyone!
It is finally time to write about my adventures thus far! Me, my
mom and grandma arrived in Nova Scotia Monday night. It was a long
flight so when we finally arrived at our hotel we did nothing other than
relax, which was perfect. The next day (Tuesday) we hung out at the
boardwalk all day. There are a lot of shops and nifty ships to look at.
We also decided to go on a whale tour (we didn't see any whales :( ) but
we were able to learn a lot about the history which was nice. The
weather was beautiful so we decided to eat outside at a local restaurant
called Saltey's which overlooked the basin. On Wednesday we were a
little more adventurous and went to Peggy's Cove. On the way there we
stopped at a memorial for a Swiss flight that crashed just off the shore
of Nova Scotia in 1998. It has beautiful terrain and the most beautiful
view of the ocean. Once we were done at Peggy's Cove it was time to
drive back and board the ship!
I was sooo excited when I saw it! IT IS HUGE! I immediately
got in line and proceeded through check in and then finally made my way
up the gangway onto my 3 month home! I just could not believe it was
finally time! The ship is soo beautiful! I met my roommate who is a
Psychology major as well... it is nice that we have something in common.
But what is even better is she packed only one small suitcase where I
pack two x-large duffels (both weighing close to 50 lbs.), a smaller
duffel and then my backpack. So her items take up less than a quarter of
the closet and one drawer! Hallelujah! Once I was all settled into my
room it was time to meet our work study supervisor ( it seems like it
will be a fun and busy job). After that we barely had time to eat before
welcoming the parents on the ship and time to say our final goodbyes :(
Today ( Thursday) the work study students at assisting the other
voyagers in the check out process. Once that is complete we will have a
safety meeting and then time to embark!
Stay tuned to see what happens next!
I love and miss you all,
Amy :)
